In their words
A few of the things customers have written about the shop on Google.
“Very convenient to have, especially when you need it at night. Opens just after 12pm every day.”
“How they manage to get so much into one small shop is anyone's guess. Competitive prices … a much better shopping experience than the nondescript Tesco Express on the opposite side of the road. Shop local, give the small guys a chance.”
“Nice little shop with polite owners and polite workers.”

The shop
Poplar Wines & Spirits has been trading on Poplar High Street since 1980, its red and gold sign a familiar landmark just along from the DLR. It is the kind of independent corner shop the area has kept going back to for decades.
Small on the outside, well stocked on the inside, with a friendly hand behind the counter and the doors open late every night of the week. Handy for a bottle on the way home, the drinks for tonight, or the odd thing the big shop forgot.
The neighbourhood
A minute from All Saints DLR, on the same stretch as Chrisp Street Market, easy to reach from Poplar, Blackwall and Canary Wharf.

Good to know
The practical stuff, hours, what's on the shelves and how to find the shop in Poplar.
Every day of the week, from 12:00 noon through to 23:00 (11pm). That includes Sundays, so it's an easy one to remember: open by lunchtime, open late every night. The pill at the top of the page shows live whether the shop is open right now.
Wines, spirits and liqueurs, beers, ciders and ales, plus chilled soft drinks and mixers. On top of the drinks there are snacks, confectionery and the everyday essentials, tobacco and the odd household bit, so it doubles as a handy late shop. The full run-down is in our what we stock section above.
The shop packs a lot into a small space and ranges change with what's in, so the surest way is to call before you set off. Give us a ring on 020 7987 5518 and we'll tell you if it's on the shelf.
You'll find us at 243 Poplar High Street, London E14 0BE, on the corner and about a minute's walk from All Saints DLR. Poplar and Blackwall stations are close by too, and it's an easy hop from Canary Wharf. There's a map just above.
Yes, Poplar Wines & Spirits is an independent, family-run off-licence, trading on the same stretch of Poplar High Street since 1980, not a chain. As one regular put it on Google, it's a friendlier shop than the big names nearby, so shop local and give the small guys a chance.
